I worked as a film/tv editor for a few decades and I’ve long said that there’s something often captivatingly charismatic about dysfunctionally narcissistic people. I suspect that, to our lizard brains, their illness conveys a false assuredness and expertise that’s alluring.
The right wing wants to convince us that everything will be ok, if one obnoxious figure is removed from the scene. Yeah right. He is a symptom of right wing politics: noisy, grotesque… but not as special as one might think. French has an agenda as messenger for the religious right.
