This literally took my breath away. Do you KNOW how big a deal this is? Aging-in-place, at home, is the BEST way to care for a senior with dementia. But can I tell you how much it cost to hire care for my mother at home, even shitty care in a low-cost market (Eastern Iowa)? $14,000 A MONTH.

This could mean so much to so many! My aging parents are dealing with dementia and cancer and I don’t sleep at night, anxious over their care.
It should just be the norm! We should all get $ for home-healthcare as part of Social Security. Even ignoring ethical obligations, it saves the economy a fuckton of $ if we keep people in their homes and offer preventative care! Fewer ER visits, fewer corrupt hedge-fund controlled nursing homes. FFS
I'm hoping there isn't an age limit because taking care of disabled kids is a serious issue as well. In some states, we can't get services at all, or are too high risk for illness, so a parent serves as an unpaid family caregiver. A single income in a young family is hard too. Anything would help.
