Lunch in public schools should be free to the students. Ditto for breakfast. Free food makes for healthier people, healthier citizens, better community outcomes. It just makes sense. Which is partly why the fascists are opposed to it.
School lunch began as a subsidy for farmers. WIC (nutrition for pregnant women and babies saves $$$ in health care for every penny spent. They’re just horrible. Like Scrooge hoping they die and reduce the surplus population.

I read the blind side before I moved to the US and I remember being shocked that the only reason the main character kept going to school was because it was his only reliable source of food during the day. I love that some states have made it universal and I can’t understand people who are against it
