Years ago, I did a bunch of reporting on climate change. I remember a conversation with a researcher at MIT who told me that while science could not predict whether there’d more cyclonic storms, researchers were 100% that the storms we did get would be more powerful, wetter, and slower-moving. 1/

That meant more rain once they made landfall, and while hurricanes are rated as threats by wind speed, they do the most damage through storm surge and rain. Obviously that’s on my mind today, along with all the folks I know and love in East Tennessee and all the folks in Western NC /2
