As I've shown in the past, this domestic, NZ'er led climate change denial tracks with what the Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) frames as 'New Denial', in a seminal report looking at YouTube disinformation, applicable to other social media platforms too. counterhate.com/wp-content/u...
Studied 300+ comments against Facebook post on the Herald's account linking to www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/climate-c... After analysing nearly 650k hospital cases, researchers found that the risk of hospitalisation for young children significantly increases when temperatures reach 24.1°C.
I just hate what students are being cheated out of, and that they're being told it's smart to be cheated in this way
Luxon should already have demanded Costello resign from cabinet. The coalition agreement doesn't say he cannot dismiss openly corrupt ministers. Spineless. #nzpolwww.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...
Where there's cigarette smoke, there's controversy, and Associate Health Minister Casey Costello has courted plenty of it
"This government is committed to the revitalisation of te reo Māori and recognises the importance of the language in our schools." Erica Stanford ...by cutting $30 million Te reo Māori teacher training? Thats an odd way to demonstrate committment. (1) www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
Education Minister Erica Stanford said the government was still committed to the revitalisation of te reo Māori.
Framing point of order: they did NOT "cut te reo Māori to boost maths". They gave huge tax cuts to landlords and then chose to cut te reo Māori. This is not a competition between maths and language. It's a strategy to devalue ALL public education.
Education Minister Erica Stanford said the te reo Māori initiative lacked accreditation.
Disinfo from the FSU. The proposed reforms of the HRA would have little to no impact on medical professionals because almost all the medical bodies in NZ have codes of conduct that are currently pro-trans. Also HDC. The FSU (hi Ani!) do not believe trans ppl have a right to exist.
Thrilled to be a keynote at the Opening Gala for this year's NZ Law Students Association conference tomorrow! I'll be talking about the intersection between global trends in legislating against online abuse and... Taylor Swift!
I wrote recently for The Spinoff about Facebook's scam ad problem. The site is flooded with them, and Meta is seemingly letting it happen -- effectively selling their users to scammers as potential victims. thespinoff.co.nz/internet/21-...
They're filling Facebook feeds, sucking people in and ripping them off. So why won't Meta do anything about it?
