i think it is also true that we are living in an age of mass dissociation - so many consequential bad things happening all at the same time that dealing with the trauma makes our brains literally try to dissociate from reality. or maybe that's just me. #chronicillness#mecfs#longcovid

I mean, I do think you're right: that degree of avoidant behavior is because many are too frightened to face reality. The "are you AFRAID??" mantra of pro-infection folks feels v telling. Acknowledging COVID is life-threatening would leave them terrified, so you must be beside yourself!
