Thanks for including the Goad map—that’s a very inefficiently set up brewery from the perspective of having to move ingredients and work in process around, but they were likely more worried about supplying steam power to mill.

1812-17ish, Yorkshire mill owners had the striking Luddites shot at, executed, or sent to Australia. Corporate pushback to the 1894 Pullman strike was eerily similar. (Also— a lot of doctors on Bluesky eschew honorific titles.)

Folks have been using the term “late stage capitalism” since rhs 1920s (used to describe why German labor and capital both supported WWI). Capitalism is an economic theory. There’s no lifespan to it. It doesn’t expire unless something else knocks it out.
