this story from today's Ask A Manager is killing me

2. The union

Wasnā€™t me but a guy I knew. He was a fan of certain ā€œmind altering vegetation,ā€ as was his coworker. He agreed to sell some to his coworker and soon became ā€œthe guyā€ at the auto repair place. One of the managers noticed him always having quick little chats with his coworkers and ran in the complete wrong direction with it and thought my friend was trying to organize a union and he (the manager) was going to stop that.

So my friend was terrified he was going to get fired until he realized that retaliating against him for selling pot was totally legal but retaliating against him for pro-union activity wasnā€™t. And so, to protect himself from being fired for being mistaken as a union organizer, he organized a union.

Looks like I'm heading to Manchester in August to confab over historical brewing and beer history over a few beers. sites.google.com/view/histori...

My beer-related hope for the new year: to see more people making cask beer. Itā€™s a natural path of evolution for brewpubs who pinned their prospects on NEIPA: a beer style that only works in draft. Cheers, folks!

Found this thrifting in Ithaca yesterday. @beerfoodtravel.bsky.social does this ring the bell for a Waterford Glass item? Iā€™ve only seen written descriptions mentioning the lozenge and the shamrock in the stem.

Sullivanā€™s and Oā€™Haraā€™s on sale at Sam the Beer Man, in Chenango Forks, NY. Irish beer gets around.

Doing a little cooking ahead. The rescue Viking will be slow cooking the turkey overnight at 175 F. Probably take 14 hours.
