I know many people who solve this problems by turning studies into drawings of OCs. I personally love the non-committal nature of studies - I get to draw something without the nagging voice pressing me to make it look good.

Fortunately it's seemingly blanket for the entire purchase where I'm at, but alcohol self-checkout is why I try to avoid shopping in certain stores on Fridays. The thought of having to wait in line for 6 people to have their weekend beers approved fills me with mild rage.

I was just thinking electronics were the only thing I've ever seen under lock in a store, besides the items required to be so by regulations, such as cigarettes and vapes.

Tangentially related - I wonder how this affects alcohol sales in stores with self-checkout. Is the hassle of having to wait 5 minutes for an attendant to check your id and confirm your purchase enough to make people skip getting that beer?

I think if you sacrificed Musk you'd actually end up with more billionaires because of his many children... ๐Ÿค”

With how activation energy works if you only do it for an hour every day you're not getting jack out of it, because it's not enough to get in the zone or get anything substantial done. Maybe 12h is an overkill, but somehow the unstoppable art machines I always think of seem to clock in that much.

Doing the right kind of practice is definitely important, but a lot is trial and error and sheer repetition. I don't believe you can engineer perfect practice from nothing either. Like you're not gonna read a book and immediately internalize its guidance into a perfectly-tailored routine.

I often wonder if I'll ever be good enough at art to theoretically pass the local artschool's practical admission exam. Knowing that I'm not as skilled as an 18-19yo artist is expected to be has been a thorn in my side my entire adult life.

The problem is that you need to put in like a hundred thousand hours into drawing to get any good at it and learn to be efficient, which means if you don't enjoy it enough to do it for 12h+ a day you may die before you get there.
