Yeah there's a lot of 'white savior' complexes and 'disaster / poverty tourism' for many of the people who come here. To be fair there are plenty of decent people as well. Heck, I feel weird a lot of the time being here as someone who works for an established and reputable medical non-profit.

that’s part of what makes it so complicated. there are a lot of really good people doing really good work and sometimes without realizing it some of that work gets leveraged by not so good people doing nefarious shit as a cover. I hope that your time there feels well valued and utilized
