Glad to report that my house is ok, gutter damage, shingles, and the storage room flooded a bit. All my neighbors are ok. Some of them had some roof damage. We were very lucky. No ETA on power so I suspect it will be a week like last time.
Yeah, I don't even know how you could begin addressing the problem. It's so complicated and many missionaries are trying to do the right thing where the state has failed the kids. A few bad missionaries have definitely made it worse, like this story (and more over the years)

Yeah there's a lot of 'white savior' complexes and 'disaster / poverty tourism' for many of the people who come here. To be fair there are plenty of decent people as well. Heck, I feel weird a lot of the time being here as someone who works for an established and reputable medical non-profit.
