Leash your dog. Yes, you. Yes, your sweet dog. Leash your dog. Not only because of the harm it could do, but because you have no right to put other people through the stress of not knowing what it will do. EVEN IF you can predict your dog (you can’t), other people shouldn’t have to rely on it.

My ACD stays leashed in public places and has a high vis leash so others see it from afar. I think it helps quite a bit as I’ve seen many dog owners who foolishly take their dog out leashless grab theirs by the collar when they see mine.

And just shouting "don't jump" at your free range dog and then doing nothing when it does jump on the poor passerby (who really dislikes strange dogs jumping on them) isn't helpful

Word. One fashionable trend I've seen picking up in my neighborhood dog park is other dog stewards escorting their pups from their SUV (always an SUV) leashless to the dog park gate. Probably the worst place outside a daycare to get cocky with your animal, given the chaos. Dogs are animals folks

I just nearly lost two goat kids to a dog running at large. One is still in pretty rough shape. He was incredibly close to death when we got to the Vet.

Leash the Owners of dogs that can't control an aggressive dog.

also use a fucking muzzle when in close conditions like public transport. no disrespect to your dog who I'm sure is the sweetest most laid-back dog ever, but it will still lash out when somebody steps on it unintentionally. USE A MUZZLE!

The trail I take in a local park has signs to leash your dog, due to birds and squirrels. I’ve been jumped on by goldens and labs. Once had a GSD running toward me. He looked friendly (and was!) but come on people ☹️

This should extend (no pun) to all this retractable leash bs as well I used to use a 20 ft line to exercise my horse, it is NOT a device for keeping a dog under heel

See also be able to handle your leashed dog. My neighborhood used to have a half Rottweiler half St. Bernard the would go insane if you came near it on a public trail. The owner would hold on for dear life and blame us for exciting the dog she admitted she had little control over. PUBLIC TRAIL LADY

My neighbor complained to me that his unleashed dog got the runs from eating cat food I put out for the community cat in the back of my carport —50 feet from the road where he’s walking his dog. He feels entitled to let his dog run up my yard and enter my buildings, and I should accommodate him.
