No, a galgo espaƱol (Spanish greyhound) called Shadow! But top marks for getting the reference - my cats are always named after Pratchett characters
Damn, youāre in the wrong part of the world, Ghost is gorgeous. Mind you, Captain Carrot would never forgive me
I forgot to add, if both partnersā countries impose an MIR, quite often there is actually *nowhere* that the family can live together
The UN convention on human rights enshrines the right to family life. The MIR for UK family reunification imposes an addendum: a right to family life *but not in the country of your birth*
For those who donāt know, for a British citizen to bring their foreign spouse to the UK, the *British citizen* must earn the MIR, which is usually discriminatory against British women with caring responsibilities. A simple change to *household income* would make a huge difference
Just listened to todayās @quietriotpod.bsky.social@pimlicat.bsky.social mentioned the MIR for work visas, but too many people donāt realise it applies to family reunification for British citizens too, with heartbreaking results. Iād love you to do an episode on that too š
Iāve shared this in a few replies but itās probably time to share it in an actual post Please feels free to suggest additions (or as if Iāve missed you) go.bsky.app/KiHDCMA
