I have reached the "sleeping on an air mattress and using boxes for furniture" stage of moving out, and my back is now reminding me that I am in my thirties and ergonomics matter.

I can't believe it took me until the age of 32 to start adding garlic when making mashed potatoes

Seeing how much easier it has been to sell my more generic furniture ahead of my impending move, while my favorite piece of furniture is yet unsold, I suppose I can see how home renovations can start hurtling towards blandness. But I still plan to surround myself with items that bring me joy

Under no circumstances disregard this! I once skipped the safety glasses when volunteering in wildlife rescue, handling a heron that was very weak. If I hadn't flinched when it stabbed at my face it would have taken out my eyes. Supervisor was rightfully pissed at me, I never skipped glasses again.

Almost one year! Much of it spent lurking, but even getting an account was more than I ever did on twitter.

Every day I'm given cause to think of @debcha.bsky.social's formulation: "Any Sufficiently Advanced Neglect is Indistinguishable from Malice."

I and my spouse met up today with friends that we haven't seen in two years. Repeatedly moving between countries can be hard on your social life, so it's always great crossing paths with friends again. Here's a picture of their very lovely border collie as pet tax!

A woman (me) throwing a tennis ball for a border collie on a beach. They are just next to the water. The sky is overcast.

Having yet again encountered an *absurdly* badly designed immigration system feature, I propose the following counter to Hanlon's razor: "Even *if* we assume no malice, incompetence is allowed to flourish when those that it affects have little power".
