I watched that with my daughter when she was eight or nine. It was very sad.
I saw Grave of the Fireflies in my twenties. Definitely hit hard, and definitely a movie that children 7 and above should see. Might lead into so good discussions on death.

This makes sense. I do think it’s important to have an adult-type person who has at least *some* idea of what they’re getting into beforehand.
When people ask me what amines I recommend I always start with this one because of the emotional reaction that it hit me with that will always stay with me.

Thus far the majority of push back I've gotten on this post seems to come from folks who weren't raised to have the tools to tackle the big emotions this film presents so they were traumatized by it. Which is exactly why I want kids to see this movie, so the same won't happen to them unsupervised.
