Surely the main purpose of the lower Thames crossing is to enable freight and other northbound traffic to bypass the virtually-permanent traffic standstill at the Dartford crossing? And when the lower Thames crossing becomes inevitably choked by traffic in a few years time do we spend another 10 billion on a lower lower Thames crossing? At what point do we stop building roads?
