i feel like we hate on cliches too much, and use the word cliche as an insult or a con in terms of writing but things are only cliche because they're good, they've only become cliches because people love them so much, i don't mind cliches if they're done well enough honestly

A cliche is a trope that is used without respect for what makes it a trope.

reminders me lf the "Tropeless Tale" page in TVTropes that p much says that you cant make a story witohut any ckiches because EVERYTHING is a cliche/trope, you shouldn't go insane trying to avoid anything that isn't original, you can use a cliche and still make a good story, you just nedd to

"Cliches like this are beautiful; Because they reflect us, and we are beautiful."

I sometimes feel like trope has replaced the word cliche. Like Brothers best friend or the one room, one bed. Like these are just cliches that have been turned into actual repeatable tropes in books and movies. It’s not a bad thing but just a new word.

Tropes are tools 🙏

I think people just mostly confuse it with boring ig? It’s easier to say something is cliché instead it being unimaginitive. It is kinda impossible to make something completely original now. So agree, clichés done good instead of a big nothingburger of a plot is the way :D

Probably many people use it more as a synonym for unoriginal but i agree if the cliche is written well i don't mind it at all

I think some people are conditioned with subversions at this point they overlook the point of cliches and tropes being tools

I think this generation of audiences are too irony poisoned that they can't enjoy anything unless it's a "deconstruction" or a "subversion" of a common trope. I've seen this happen to movies, tv shows and even anime. People nowadays are too scared of sincerity because it's seen as "cringe" nowadays

I feel like people who hate on cliches are the kind of people who just started consuming media critically, if that makes any sense. I never see people who's a media veteran[?] hate on cliches as much as rob from pensylvania
