but old technology doesn't *feel* as efficient to them, making it, to them, useless is it incredibly fucking foolish? obviously, but... anyway, carrier pigeons are cool and, as you said, we should get more

No respect for old technology? They don't respect new technology! The amount of power modern devices have and how bloated the software they run is blows my mind every day. Optimization seems practically dead as a concept.

Newspapers in the days of metal printing could turn around a new front page with a fresh article often in under an hour from typesetting it to getting it out to a newsstand or newsboys. Blogging! Of course this involved hundreds of people.
