The Nazis and Imperial Japanese were bad, actually, and of all of the things about history that I feel very comfortable saying and feeling, that the world is better off that they were stopped before they divvied up the world, I may feel the most comfortable with that one.
I think it's good that the Allies defeated the Nazis, rather than the other way around. The Nazis winning would've been worse. Sorry to get so partisan and speak out against one of Republicans' chosen standard bearers in Minnesota like this, but that's how I feel.
As the control of the Senate hangs in the balance, GOP candidates across the country are facing a similar problem: Troubling and bizarre past statements, both in-person and on social media, are coming...
Boomers will tolerate nearly every flavor of crazy in their GOP politicians, but "the good guys won WWII" has been etched into their bones. This is not a winning sentiment, and anyone with a shred of political acumen could have told him that to his face. These people are cooked.
WWII is probably the closest you can come to a really clear cut good guys and bad guys scenario. Most war has a lot of moral shades of gray. Not so much that one.
I feel very good about the normative claim that they were the bad guys. If you aren't going to studiously have the position that everyone was the bad guys, if you're going to have bad guys, those are reasonable bad guys to have. Its like them, the Mongols, and the Soviets
Oh so it's all about YOUR comfort, izzit??
Out of all the sides in all the wars, it's unbelievable how Republicans seem determined to align themselves with the most obviously wrong and bad ones. www.thebulwark.com/p/jd-vance-a...
Kind of weird to see yourself as part of a modern incarnation of the Civil War—and that you’re on the side of the slaveholders.
