There isnā€™t perhaps one that springs to mind for me, but I did think that all the gender books Iā€™m currently buying and reading are from Bloomsbury.

My Spotify playlist today is living my dream academic life. My own personal admin list has a somewhat different aura, but I suppose 'messy desk admin pressure Friday morning' doesn't sound quite as appealing

Spent the day being my favourite type of historian today. I gave a building tour and gave a talk. Thereā€™s no greater joy than sharing all my Toynbee Hall and settlement movement titbits for Open House History.

This is such a cool idea: Wiley are asking people to nominate their Research Heroes. So, #skystoriansm.info.wiley.com/webApp/Resea...

Recently visited National Trustā€™s Children's Country House at Sudbury and thought it was brilliant. Having been to lots of NT estates recently it was fun to see something aimed purely at children. Theyā€™re was lots of games, captioning and a much loved disco room

A piano with the phrase dance like itā€™s 1699 in a stately room with white walls and chandelier.
Speech bubbles underneath pictures
Disco balls by a grandfire place, clock and mirror
A stately home in the distance with a yellow path and green lawn in the front. Blue skies and clouds in the tip third

Itā€™s World Photography Day šŸ“ø and what better day to mark my latest article! So check out ā€˜Capturing Homosocial Worlds in the photographs of the Rugby Club, 1885ā€“1920ā€™ in Gender & History here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10...., esp if youā€™re into gender, camping, boxing & touch/ emotions.

Article abstract: During the First World War, the Rev. Charles S. Donald, warden of the London-based Rugby Club, sent several war time circulars to current and former club members. This article examines how Donald used the circular's photographs to sustain pre-war links. It will therefore consider how snapshots from their annual camping trips and boxing heroes inscribed male intimacy and friendship. Touch will be shown to be a vehicle through which homosocial intimacy was expressed both in the moment the photograph was captured and during the war. Read it here https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/1468-0424.12676
