I don’t know how things are setup in the UK but in French, PhD committees have to have gender parity But because there are less women who are econ professors than men, it creates a steep gendered imbalance at the detriment of women economists I don’t know how it works in other European countries

I think it is very common in the UK, less so in other European countries.
