After the last few batches of afternoon and night shifts, I've found they become incredibly isolating. I know it's in my head, but there's the weirdest feelings of rejection and avoidance after a few weeks being out of time while everyone games and catches up together.

No such as morning shifts coming up for you? I thought they'd give rotation of morning, afternoon and night shifts. Not just afternoon and nights?
