We repeated our blunder barometer from the election to find out which perceived missteps had highest cut through/negative perception. Winter Fuel Allowance had highest cut through, WFA it and freebies have highest reflects badly (Sunak leaving D-Day left in for comparison)
I really don't understand them pushing the WFA thing so quickly and so hard. It was obviously going to be a PR disaster. They could have waited a year to show they can improve other things and presented a better solution for "reforming" WFA. Starmer seems to have a tin ear for public opinion.
All fairly glum reading for Labour. But the flip side of electoral volatility is things can go the other way too. By virtue of being 100 days in there are 1726 to go! And if new number 10 and budget correct things and make people feel better this may all be forgotten by later in the Parliament.
