Where Americans Have Been Moving Into Disaster-Prone Areas

As Americans have flocked south and west, more people have been exposed to the risk of hazards like hurricanes, floods, wildfires and dangerous heat.

A friend moved from Florida to Maine a few years ago, and within a year or two hurricane Lee hit Maine.

“There are 20 different factors in weighing where people want to move. Higher up on the list is where friends and family live, where I can afford to move. Much lower down is what is the risk of hurricane or wildfire.” ie #ClimateLiteracy is sorely lacking.
