🧪Sorry.. No amount of contact tracing would have stopped COVID. By the time the first cases of pneumonia were detected, the pandemic was a done deal. Presymptomatic transmission, widespread international travel, not to mention no rapid tests in late 2019-Jan 2020) made stopping it impossible.

It could have been limited. If when the first plane from China landed. They sent people that weren't in biohazard suits to collect the crew and passengers. They quarantined no one. They knew at that time they all might have COVID-19. So yes something could have been done.

I agree but I think the complete surrender by the Republicans to stochastic terror from the antivax grifting industry made mitigation and public health policy actions equally impossible

Presymptomatic transmission and up to a 2 week incubation period… there was just no damn way

There's so much that could have been done, like in early 2020 to prepare the country, that gets drowned out by these narratives, & it's so frustrating

Yeah, don't think it could have been of much help, I think bigger would have been to shut down international travel via airplane sooner.

Contact tracing isn't to stop COVID it's to reduce COVID. If it was done effectively (and I am thinking of the UK not the US here) it could have prevented a lot of deaths.

A coworker of mine traveled to China for a work event in Dec 2019 and caught covid. None of us but perhaps the most vigilant were discussing/handling covid very well then. The most embraced advice for awhile was "don't touch your face."
