Enforcement of policy might be difficult, but it's considerably more difficult if you make absolutely zero effort towards it - like *basic* things could be done - when you have numerous block lists for transphobia or pedos or Nazi shit, it doesn't take much effort for the mod team to go through them

It may be against TOS here, but the mods/Devs either shirk their responsibility by passing the buck down to composable moderation, or turning a blind eye deliberately (many of the team here were following an abusive nazi til he was exposed, and the trust and safety head reposted transphobia iirc)

And of course this needs combining with robust privacy features - I'd be a lot more sanguine with e.g. AI shills being here if they couldn't access/scrape my posts cos my account is locked or we had audience controls

There's "sharing the exact opinion" and then there's basic minimums. We can argue/disagree on idk, whether you're allowed to tell someone to fuck off or whatever, but at the minimum a social network should ban racism, transphobia, homophobia, Nazis, pedos, AI bs, etc.

The problem here is the same as with meta - those at the top/in control have an ideological opposition to privacy/moderation etc

Also I will bet bottom dollar Bsky are developing their own AI tools, all the Devs are pals with ai weirdos and use it in their own projects (Bsky already uses AI for it's outsourced attempts at moderation btw)

Yeah, it's good you can block it, but it shouldn't be allowed in the first place. The "composable moderation" on here is an absolute joke, it's an excuse for there not to be any proper trust and safety structure - pedos and Nazis and ai freaks run wild but "oh you can block them with this"
