I can't express how disappointing and frustrating it is to see even closed loved ones quickly fall for the narrative that immigrants are taking their money and opportunities and the people who take advantage of that are the parties that want to make their lives immensely worse.

Unfortunately it plays to the narrative that people have been fed all their lives. Humans are prone to scapegoating, and capitalism has worked hard to brainwash people into believing the rich “earned” their vast inherited wealth. The only consolation is that class consciousness is increasing.

It's so constantly disheartening to see my parents who have both been abused by their bosses their whole life, rather go after immigrants, vegetarians or whatever else that their chosen party has decided is at fault than admit that the party might have changed Because being wrong is too hard
