There’s always bad stuff on the internet if you look for it, but I have to admit I didn’t really grasp the extent to which literal, full-on pro-Nazi, pro-Hitler, and explicitly racist content is now genuinely popular and flourishing on X until I started reporting on it. It has become the Nazi bar.

"I said something stupid and made a lot of people mad. Yay me!" Trolling for engagement works a lot better on Twitter than Bsky, huh?

I guess my question for the Remain on Twitter people is why did people stop posting on MySpace? It's because no one was on MySpace anymore.

The blindingly obvious response to that is to not be one of the people making up that user base. Network effects in social media work until they don't, we've seen it time and time again, and the reason they stop working has always been because enough people leave.

It is in fact a problem that politicians and journalists are marinating their brains in Nazi propaganda all day but dunking your own head in the marinade is not going to fix that
