I don't like how "dx" (or other such) at the end of integration visually blends into the formula being integrated. That info should come before you start integrating, anyway, not at the end. And if there's one variable? That one variable should be the default for integration without mentioning it!

I actually think I would've agreed less than a year ago. But I've found a new appreciation as manipulating the dy's and dx's really make some formulas so damn intuitive. Length of a curve probably being the best example of this.

Yeah, that dx served zero purpose when I was learning calculus. Notation for the sake of it!!
