From a letter in today's The Times re the paean to Irish writing and James Joyce: "For all the injustices Britain has heaped on Ireland, Ireland has inflicted Joyce on English literature students." Harsh but fair.
Though Andrew Neil is on and he tends to be interesting. Won't comment on the rest of the panel. I probably won't last the course.
The eternal dilemma.
Listening to Beethoven's heavenly "Emperor's Concerto" and out of nowhere came this deep melancholy and a fierce wish to hear my long dead grandmother (she studied at the Dresden Conservatory) play it just one more time. Music reaches the parts etc etc
