The person who brought up humility in the first place is about as hypocritically arrogant as a human being can be, so Kamala’s honesty here is refreshing and true.

In context it was even more powerful: she was referring to Huckabee Sanders who said women "needed" to be mothers to stay humble. No. We don't all "need" to be mothers. And we don't all strive for motherhood induced "humility". (And her comments evinced no such humility.)

Representation matters!

I've been humbled plenty.

And damned if it doesn't make for some great campaign ads and merchandise. Which sounds crass, but we have a damn campaign to win.

There was a 90s interview with Tina Turner on her huge mansion in the south of France. The interviewer asked "Do you really deserve all this?" She looked him straight in the eye and said "I deserve MORE."

Yep. You definitely don't and never did need permission. No woman does. The fact that person associated 'humble' with motherhood is odd. Those are not synonyms. You have to be courageous, brave and protective to be a mom. I know many bold, strong, and successful women who also happen to be mothers.

I felt Sanders saying Harris had "nothing to keep her humble" was Sanders calling her an uppity you know what. 🤬

Back in the day, I used to say that I wanted to be notorious. (I think I might have achieved that among Scientologists from picketing their orgs.) I'm a couple decades older and I'm still mouthy as hell.
