Would the people expressing a preference for Reform still make that choice if they knew that they want to; Curtail your Human Rights, Cut taxes to benefit the already wealthy & force health & social care even further into the private sector, Stop investment in efforts to combat climate change.
The whole Any Questions session was very interesting. It was also very heartening to hear Adrian Ramsay - The Green Party co-leader and MP for Waveney Valley - get the most positive response from the audience. [4]
We do need some form of carbon capture to mitigate the hard to abate sectors of fossil fuel use. That could come from regeneration of our woodlands, peatlands & wetlands which are all carbon sinks. This would also undo some of the damage done to our natural environment. [3]
The government scrapped their plan to invest 28 billion in renewable energy, home insulation & public transport to enable the transition to a green future, yet they can find 22 billion to invest in CC which has been heavily lobbied for by the fossil fuel industry. Why is that? [2]
Any Questions - Beccles Public Hall. Listening to Adrian Ramsay talk about Carbon Capture (CC). He talks a lot of good sense & made some very good points. Is the 22 billion investment in CC worth the money - Short answer from Adrian - No. Carbon Capture is an excuse to carry on as we are. [1]
The ECHR is an international treaty that protects our fundamental Human Rights. The UK was instrumental in setting up the ECHR. It serves a vital purpose. The only reason these grifters want to get the UK to leave the ECHR is to erode our Human Rights & stir up further division. Don't let them.
Boris Johnson has crawled out of the woodwork to join Nigel Farage in saying the UK needs a referendum on ECHR membership If UK media is going to give him a platform to spout this boll**** it’s up to all of us to call it out. Share this if you agree youtu.be/QOtcGqDccc4?...

Peaceful mass protest marches and rallys are largely ineffective - the politicians just ignore them. A march may make the evening news but then they are forgotten about. JSO protests are attention grabbing and raise the profile of Climate Change & it's causes.
The JSO protesters are indeed heroes, they are prepared to sacrifice their liberty, careers & reputation for a cause they strongly believe in. They have tried direct action against the fossil fuel industry - anyone recall the massive media coverage of the oil refinery blockade in 2022? Me neither!
They lock up the heroes and reward the villains. As the climate emergency bites, everything is wrong with our response. This week's column. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Why do the mass killers of the fossil fuel industry walk free while the heroes trying to stop them are imprisoned? asks Guardian columnist George Monbiot
This might be a bit of a thread because three things have intersected yesterday that i want to put into context, so please bear with me here because i think this is important. 1 🧵
Bore da - I love this story, languages are fascinating. I don't remember ordering any 'sglods' on of my many late night sorties down Caroline Street though. Cael diwrnod da. 🏴
