Recent peer reviewed paleontology studies have suggested that T. rex had excellent depth perception, night vision better than an owl's, visual acuity better than an eagle's, and color vision better than ours. And how's this for a nightmarish reconstruction using balloons for accurately sized eyes?

Screenshot of a grayscale figure from a scientific paper reconstructing the visual acuity of Tyrannosaurus rex showing a T. rex skull with accurately sized white balls with painted black spots for pupils where its eyes would have been in life.

The overall effect is, to use the proper technical term, very very very very scary.

not *that* recent, after checking Kent A. Stevens (2006) Binocular vision in theropod dinosaurs, Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology 26(2):321–330

That’s the most surprised-looking skull I have ever seen.

I used sophisticated tech to recreate the actual look of this creature. Witness the glory.

The cute meme dog with the wide open smiley mouth, looking at the camera as if waiting for a response to a very good/bad pun.

I love puns so this is clearly a Very Good & Very Smart Dog.

This was addressed in the lost world’s novel, where the explanation of bad vision from the previous novel was ridiculed by the characters
