Today at 2pm, a new Ohio historical marker will be dedicated for Cleveland inventor Garrett Morgan’s recreational club (1924-1940s) for African Americans in Wakeman, Ohio.

Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 2 p.m. Wakeman Community Park (Downtown), 9 East Main Street. Cleveland Inventor and entrepreneur Garrett Morgan sold his patent for the Traffic Signal to GE in 1923. This was instrumental in Morgan establishing the Wakeman Country Club, one of the earliest African American recreation clubs in Ohio. Celebrating with the Morgan Family.
