Same! My favorite game franchise. WTF?
That's a fact. I was just afraid Netflix was doing a live action version when I first read your tweet.
I would have said that about Space Battleship Yamato, except that SBY 2199 proved that you can improve on an original classic. So I might give it a shot.
I was an interview subject in a documentary about the making of 2001: A Space Odyssey, and in it I make a big point about how Kubrick went back to Royal Wedding, a 1951 Fred Astaire movie musical, to figure out how to shoot his space scenes. It's smart to learn from other's experience!
My favorite part are the Joker fanboys who loved a movie about a character who doesn't care what people think of him, suddenly shocked to get a sequel that doesn't care what the manosphere expects of it. When I saw it would have musical numbers I thought "that's the most Joker thing possible.".
I'm also seeing a great disregard and distrust for expertise. and collaboration. It used to be studios let the production and costume designers, DP & VFX Supe figure out what the show should look like. More now I'm seeing the desire to micromanage every pixel by ppl who don't have the time or skill
Not just influential in anime. A hill I will die on is that the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica was just a Magnificent Seven style American adaptation of Space Battleship Yamato.
Ok, but how does he REALLY feel?
