Iām a big proponent that pastoral care is not just the job of the clergy. Caring for each other is not just a job for the ordained. Part of being laity is the ministry of community. Itās why I love the idea of Stephen Ministry in particular.
Iām so so sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. ššš
My fatherās copies of Hatchett and Mitchellās āPraying Shapes Believingā have always been my own references besides āThe Priestsā Handbookā that I studied over during an internship. Curious what folks use now, especially since I hope to be at an episcopal seminary w/in the next few years.
Praying heartily for you and her. š

I had to look this up but In fact we have! First in ā58 then again in ā79. Presiding Bishop Edmond Browning even sent a statement to congress and the president in ā90 reaffirming our anti-death penalty stance. Itās fascinating stuff from a church nerd perspective and def encouraging in this moment.
Iām endlessly fascinated by how each diocesan process is so so different. I love that they have you doing the work already so you arenāt completely unprepared for seminary. My NT professor was the head of the SBL Luke unit for awhile so message if you need any help!
