This is definitely "How birds wish they molted." "How they actually molt" is a photo of an old filthy sofa with busted cushions abandoned on a sidewalk.
Literally just saw a molting 2nd cycle Herring Gull looking like an old slice of meat-lovers pizza with two symmetrical bites taken out of it.
Accurate. My resident blue jays are a SIGHT. A glorious, glorious sight.
