Completely agree with this. I’m always hugely impressed with academics and doctoral students everywhere I go. So much talent and, often, so little recognition.

Someday the pendulum *has* to swing back in the direction of the one-page syllabus, right? Just hand every student a phonebook-sized hard copy of all the boilerplate with their initial registration and say "these apply to every course," then let the syllabus just be a syllabus.
