I hated it when I said I wanted to work in publishing and people told me how impossible it was, so I try to be encouraging. I recommend people don’t discount small publishers or editorial roles in non-publishing companies to get experience. And I say the same as you about courses.
Quick question for publishing people. When people tell you they want to get into a career in publishing, what do you advise them? I get asked this all the time. I hate to be discouraging but in Ireland it’s so hard, with the industry being so small.
