My mom and oxygen-dependent stepdad have been without power and cell service outside Asheville for almost 36 hours. It's officially called Fletcher but closer to Fairview, off of Emma's Grove Road, up a dirt road not far from Emma's Grove Baptist Church, between Gravelly Creek and an unnamed creek.
Their generator runs between 24 hours and a couple days, and he has a large oxygen tank that can operate without power for unknown hours but at least 24, assuming it functions as it should.
See if you can find a facebook group for that area. My in-laws are south of Brevard and the Brevard FB group was where I found all the updates about the situation on the ground.See if you can find a facebook group for that area. Hey Maud if you sort by recent you can see footage from the flood. Been doing the same thing for my folks who are also in the area. www.instagram.com/explore/loca...
Hi Maud. You could try Samaritan’s Purse too. They mention a church in the area that will be their headquarters and oxygen services.
Catching up and sending love. This is beyond hard on so many fronts.
looks as if NYT reporter Mark Barrett is currently in or near Fairview, if you can find a way to contact him?
I really hope they're fine and you can reach them soon. I'm sure you've found this by now, but this person posted a FB query about Fairview earlier today (hopefully this link works but it's in the (massive) 2024 HURRICANE & TROPICAL STORM UPDATES group) www.facebook.com/groups/47627...
You probably already know about this page, but in case it it’s helpful: bsky.app/profile/mary... (really hope your family is okay ❤️)
Really hope you hear good news soon!
