The Speaker's Office says it has 'no record' of telling Nigel Fartrage NOT to hold in-person surgeries for fears the public will "flow through the door with knives in their pockets". Farage – now better known for the hashtag #FarageRiots – made up the lie/claim on LBC's NIck Ferrari phone-in.

I do hope 'Fartrage' wasn't a typo...and anyway, I thought he was a man of the people, so why would they come at him with knives?

Hmm, why would an "upstanding" politician of his repute fear meeting members of the public, even the ones who voted for him? Very strange.
