Not sure if it's related, but there was a big hullabaloo recently where cricut tried to make their software subscription-based. So maybe lots of people are trying to sell their cricut for a silhouette (the main competitor)

That was always their business model, not a recent thing. Basically a cheap rotary knife plotter with a crappy SaaS subscription attached that needs to be always online or it stops dead. Awful.

Yeah, my wife's a primary grade teacher, and the device is useful for things she needs to make for her class, but they were charging like $9/mo for the software.
