It’s interesting that the criterion for success here is balancing the public deficit - something that we know isn’t necessary since the papers justifying austerity have been thoroughly debunked! Why is it not getting the economy growing again? Making people’s lives better? Investing in our future?

It gets upset about £80bn in budget measures. Okay, that's a lot of money, but it's still less than 7% of total govt expenditure. If anything this game just draws attention to the Budget (drawn at this level) being a show, more than anything of substance
