To be more serious, an LLM cannot review art. It cannot understand art. All it might be able to do is generate text that looks plausible enough to be mistaken for Sewell's writing. It will not provide any insight into the work it is "reviewing".
Evening Standard rehiring Brian Sewell using the power of AI after sacking half the journalists at the outlet. deadline.com/2024/09/the-...
One of the best known art critics of his generation, the Evening Standard's Brian Sewell could be about to wield his pen once more in AI form.
Sometimes, when I see ideas like this floated, I assume they’re so utterly absurd in order to make slightly less ridiculous applications of this stuff seem reasonable.
All I can think of is they pay a freelancer to do a review, then run it through an LLM to try and imitate Sewell. Honestly, it would likely be cheaper to pay someone to imitate Sewell from the start. Maybe it’ll just be that—Mechanical Turk reviews…
It doesn't sound like this genius had much insight to offer while he was alive.
That is so weird… Honestly, they could instead actually hire someone to do reviews… Instead of this nonsense, but this doesn’t surprise me at all…
