It's always worth remembering how academia's reliance on Google Scholar is totally unsustainable, since Google doesn't make a dime on the product and (as such) it's maintained by like two and a half engineers on nights and weekends
We'd be wise to migrate to open source tools like openalex.org which are far less susceptible to death by the whims of industry
I’ve noticed it getting worse too, even when all I’m doing is searching for the exact title of a classic paper
Literally what I preached when I used to do the academic portion of my Internet search class
I co-authored an article in 2023 which is now listed on Google Scholar as a 1941 paper and it seems impossible to get it changed. It’s undermined my confidence in GS quite a lot.
