This happens, and keeps happening, and it's absolutely awful. It's to the point where no one should ever call for a "wellness check", because how do you live with the fact that you set off this cascade of events? We need social workers, not police, for wellness checks.

Hereā€™s what I firmly believe about climate catastrophes: the answer is never to place blame or to shrug and say certain people need to ā€œjust move.ā€ There is no place that isnā€™t going to need help in some kind of a catastrophe.

welcome to bluesky. we have rules here: 1) Any live cell with two or three live neighbours survives. 2) Any dead cell with three live neighbours becomes a live cell. 3) All other live cells die in the next generation. Similarly, all other dead cells stay dead.
