Curse you, Audacy, for geo-blocking my beloved, crotchety Philly commentary 😭
Definitely a bit of a strange turn of things. But just for me, a Phillies fan used to 94.1 WIP. The Mets commentators are great at what they do, so it’s definitely a fine alternative
Some really gross af political ads popping up during this Phillies/Mets game 🤮
It was generous for this author to break this down and to be transparent because the publishing industry is NOT transparent and people trying to publish books are in the dark about everything. monicacatherine.com/2024/05/16/q...
~ free public post ~ The general population is slowly getting the message that things are really hard for traditionally published authors right now, in ways it was not hard twenty or even five year…
Somehow the NYT interviews people from every diner in NJ except the one Bruce is in
Which is to say, the fact that it’s been absolute *crickets* from Lucasfilm about everything the cast and crew of THE ACOLYTE have faced during the show's run and post-cancellation is downright shameful
I know I’m viewing it as a fandom journalist, but it was really something for *that* to be the non-response after cast/creatives who worked on OBI-WAN KENOBI, TROP, and PERCY JACKSON (not mentioned in the article but a very egregious example) all managed it.
Or rather, it was—and I'm paraphrasing here because I no longer have access to those emails to source that info—something like, "We'll get right back to you" before I got ghosted for several days and several follow-ups lol
While writing about toxicity in one of the fandoms in this article a couple of years ago, I reached out to the network the show aired on and asked if they wanted to put out a statement addressing the racist attacks its cast (particularly one actor) faced. They never did. variety.com/2024/tv/news...
The threat of toxic fandoms — from Star Wars and Lord of the Rings to Bridgerton and Game of Thrones — has become an intractable headache for almost every studio.
I’ve been looking at job postings outside of journalism as well because lol @ this industry, and the difference between what one industry pays over the other—even the rates of non-journo jobs considered on the low end—is wild
