Unfortunately yes. :/ No facility would take them because of "unknown health and environmental concerns" since evidently the guy was not careful about how he took care of them.

I'm familiar with one of the places they called, and they are very serious about venomous snakes there and would have taken them if it had been remotely responsible to do so.

Some of these types of snakes require a lot of specific things for a zoo to keep them AND their insurance etc. coming from the conditions they were they’d also require a lengthy quarantine so even to take one a zoo would be agreeing to a lot of costs without any guarantees it was a good investment

This is horrible. It is also absolutely the correct thing to do. The snakes that guy was neglecting could easily put healthy animals at the zoo at great disease risk.
