"Bob Woodward revealed weeks before the election that Trump secretly sent Russia's dictator Covid tests while US doctors faced a shortage" feels like it might be the kind of thing the media would run with, because it has the precise narrative structure of an old-timey scandal.

Wanna see a dead body?

Tyler Winklevoss tweeted:

“Can anyone explain why Kamala Harris didn't attend the crypto roundtable yesterday? | understand that she's on the campaign trail, but the meeting was virtual. All she needed was an Internet connection. Technical difficulties?”

And then jeff computers @allahliker quote-tweeted him with:

“maybe she doesn't need to buy heroin online right now”

“What is most exceptional about the Americans is not the voluminous record of their violence but their extraordinary ability in the face of that record to persuade themselves that they are among the best behaved and best regulated of peoples.” - Richard Hofstadter, American Violence, 1970 🗃️

Snip from https://archive.org/details/americanviolence0000hofs/page/n5/mode/1up?view=theater&q=exceptional

"While we may find violence undesirable, we can hardly find it unnatural. The United States, even with its considerable record of violence, appears not as some mutant monster among the peoples of the world but rather as a full-fledged and somewhat boisterous member of the fellowship of human frailty. What is most exceptional about the Americans is not the voluminous record of their violence, but their extraordinary ability, in the face of that record, to persuade themselves that they are among the best-behaved and best-regulated of peoples."

This poem is in the Reform Judaism siddur for the Mourner's Kaddish.

Epitaph - By Merrit Malloy
When I die
Give what’s left of me away
To children
And old men that wait to die.
And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you.
And when you need me,
Put your arms
Around anyone
And give them
What you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.
Look for me
In the people I’ve known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on in your eyes
And not your mind.

You can love me most
By letting
Hands touch hands,
By letting bodies touch bodies,
And by letting go
Of children
That need to be free.
Love doesn’t die,
People do.
So, when all that’s left of me
Is love,
Give me away.

If you're trying to win people over to your cause by vandalizing a library, or Stonehenge, or an oil painting, you are not remotely helping your cause. "It raises awareness!" Yes, awareness that you're a fucking idiot. Nothing good.
