Some scientists really do think that publishing in "high impact" journals (with a high IF) is a badge of quality & publishing in "lower impact" journals means poor quality If researchers still think this, what hope is there of convincing funders & non researchers that the metric is bollocks?

I hope they do, a good move to protect people from the corporate determinants of health which target children and low income households in numerous ways, and are backed-up by political decisions

Yes, which is why the field of interventional and implemetation science is so important. The RCT type 'gold standard' is helpful to ascertain whether the intervention works in ideal conditions, but then you have to figure out how to deal with the world as it actually is

Yes, I have a rather general approach, & also I supervise people from different disciplines where the expectations and trajectories are variable If people do have a mentoring guide I'd be interested to see if our team can improve our ways
